Non-gynae (diagnostic cytology) is employed for the diagnosis, monitoring and prevention of myriad diseases in fluids from multiple body sites. These can broadly be broken down into the following categories:
- Spontaneous fluids
- Exfoliative fluids
- Serous body fluids
- Fine-needle aspirates (FNAs)
- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
Washings and brushings are optimised for examination by removal of large particulate contaminants in the vial, and treatment of mucoid material in our non-gynae protocol.
Fluids from serous cavities are optimised for examination by treatment of mucoid material and removal of blood in our non-gynae treatment protocol.
